Rotary Telemetry Products

A miniature transmitter is attached to, or installed within the component under test.  This converts the transducer signals – usually strain and/or temperature – into a form which enables non-contact transmission – usually inductive or RF.

A stationary pickup mounted nearby receives this signal and re-transmits it via cable to the system demodulator/decoder for conversion to analogue or digital data.  In many systems the pickup incorporates an inductive power supply which provides electrical power to the transmitter.  In non-demanding applications the transmitter may be powered by a small power unit.

Measurement tasks for rotary telemetry cover many areas and although the operating principle is simple, transmitter designs are becoming even smaller and more specialised – reflecting the trend in modern engineering.  As an example, over 70% of our sales are now custom designs.
